2011-2012 CTK SCHOOL ANNUAL APPEAL

How does the Annual Appeal Fund benefit my family now?
Gifts to the Fund help CTK to maintain small class sizes, enhance innovative curriculum and programs, maintain the school’s facilities, and enrich athletics, the arts, and extracurricular programs. All students benefit directly from funds raised.

I pay tuition; why do I need to contribute to annual giving?
Parochial schools like CTK depend on annual gifts from parents, alumni, board members, faculty, and friends to help cover the gap between tuition dollars and the actual cost of educating each student. In addition, when CTK is under consideration for grants from foundations, the level of community participation in annual giving plays an important role. Foundations believe in helping schools with people who support fundraising. People help those who help themselves.

I already paid for my children to attend CTK and they have graduated. Why should I give?

The cost of tuition only pays for a portion of the cost of a CTK education. Students who receive no financial assistance are in fact receiving a "hidden scholarship " that makes up the difference between tuition and actual cost.

If you and/or your child(ren) have been a recipient of a CTK education, then you have also received the generous support of the alumni, parents and friends of the CTK community who have supported the School through the Annual Fund. Help to give today's students the opportunity that you and/or your child had at CTK.

I am an Alum of the school, but have no children that I plan on sending to CTK.  Why should I give?

CTK prepares its students to be confident, responsible global citizens – even if you do not send children to CTK, by supporting the School you are giving more children the opportunity to attend a school committed to educating its students to the highest academic standards, providing a faith-filled foundation to life and preparing them for bright futures.

Why doesn’t CTK function more like a business and charge the full cost of educating students?
There is a huge difference between a business, whose mission is to make money, and a school, whose mission is education. Schools like CTK are labor-intensive and people-oriented, and they cannot become more efficient by combining classrooms, reducing staff, or “firing” inefficient students. In addition, since Annual Appeal Fund gifts are tax-deductible, you can maximize your education dollars by writing off your donation.

Are my gifts tax-deductible?
Yes! CTK is a federally-registered 501(c)3 non-profit, which means that gifts to the school are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. All donors get a formal acknowledgement of their gift to present to their tax professional.

Can I designate my gift to a specific area?
Yes. You can designate your Annual Fund gift to support a specific area. If you wish to underwrite a specific item for the school, please contact the Office of Development directly.

How do I get more information on giving to CTK?
Contact the Office of Development directly at 625-4951.

Can I make my gift in installments? Do I have to pay right away? It’s Christmas time!!!!
Absolutely!  We can work with you to maximize your ability to make a gift by creating quarterly or even monthly payment plans.  To make it even easier for you, donors may give the Development Office a credit card, set up a planned gift, and think about it only when the thank you notes come following each gift!  We can schedule to start your payments when convenient for you.  Make your pledge now and fulfill by June 30, 2012.

How much should I give?
Only you know what you are able to give. Sometimes we ask for too much; sometimes we ask for too little.  A good rule of thumb, "Give until you are proud."  We have several giving circles with varying giving levels- do what is right do for you.
