Description

Fine Arts

Meets on the first Thursday of the month from 3:00-4:15; you can join at any time in the year. The Art Club is open to grades 3 - 6. The purpose of this club is to teach the students the basic art of drawing, sketching, and watercolor. This will also help enhance the hidden artistic abilities and to help develop and improve skills. This is time to experiment with different mediums, techniques, styles and to learn to express oneself in art. Also, we are going to learn about local artists, major historical figures, and international influences.

Student Council

CTK Logo

Christ the King School Student Council is a representative structure for students only, through which they can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management, staff and parents, and the parish for the benefit of the school and its students. The student council helps share students’ ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and school principals. They often also help raise funds for school-wide activities, including social events, community projects and school reform.

Peer Mediation

Peer Mediation Logo

Christ the King offers a peer mediation program in which students help others (grades PreK - 8th) resolve disputes that may arise. Students learn to talk with each other, understand each others’ differences and help find a resolution to the problem. The 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders help with the mediation. These students complete an application, interview and training. This is a wonderful program for our students to participate and to help within the school community.

Broadcast Class

Broadcast Logo

Students today are digital natives living in a digital world. CTK offers two classes, in addition to computer integrations through content classes, to our middle school students to engage them in real world technology skills. Eighth grade scholars learn all the stages of TV Production and Broadcast through our “Communications and Multimedia” class. Students will find
themselves in the studio filming, in the classroom taking photos, writing script, or creating moving graphics.

Advanced Technology gives 7th graders a real world understanding and exposure to the fast paced “Information Technology” time that we live in today. Students will achieve a broad based immersion into the digital world both in theory and in “Hands On Applications”.

Forensics

Under the guidance of the Forensics Coaches, the team members help each other improve their speaking skills in the areas of declamation, humorous drama, serious drama, impromptu, multiple reading, poetry, prose, and original work. Students have fun participating on the team while they practice their speeches. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the annual Forensics Tournament of Tidewater Catholic Middle Schools which is held in the Spring at Christ the King School. This year, eight area schools are participating in the competition. Click here for more information about CTK Forensics.
